The Byron Stand Up Paddle Nature Tour
You'll love the fun challenge and relaxing adventure of our daily Byron Stand Up Paddle Nature Tour. On tour with us, you'll be experiencing the fun of stand up paddling in a peaceful and beautiful setting, that at times seems a world away. Our tour takes place on the beautiful Brunswick River which is part of the Cape Byron Marine Park - our slice of paradise.
Stand up paddle boarding is rapidly growing in popularity, we believe that's because it's a fun, low impact sport that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages and abilities. Most people that come on tour with us have been wanting to try SUP for a while. We know trying something new can be daunting, so our boards are big and buoyant to give you the most stable introduction to stand up paddle boarding. We also include an introductory lesson to share tips and tricks to help have you standing up within minutes, so it's no wonder many of our customers finish our tour saying, "It was easier than I expected!".
Being a small family business, we pride ourselves on our tour being one of the top things to do in Byron Bay and feel honoured to have received hundreds of 5 STAR reviews from our customers. We love stand up paddling (SUP) and we love the Byron area (being born & bred here), and we will do all we can to ensure you have an amazing experience.
Group Size:
We keep our SUP tours small in size so we can cater for the needs of each individual and provide a memorable experience. We run our nature tours with a maximum of 8 paddlers.
Location:
We run our nature tours on the beautiful and peaceful Brunswick River in the Cape Byron Marine Park, just outside of Brunswick Heads (8 minutes north of Byron Bay once on the highway).
Here you'll feel far away from the hustle and bustle and can soak up some peace and quiet immersed in nature. Hopefully we'll see an array of wildlife, such as native birds (ospreys, cormorants, kingfishers), fish and baby stingrays, who scatter away in a cloud of sand as soon as we come near. This river is peaceful and calm, surrounded by trees and not a house in sight, only the odd fisherman cruising in his tinny!
Start Time:
Start times vary due to the tide. Please call or text 0434 250 830 to find out the start times for your preferred day.
Duration:
2 hour combined introductory lesson and tour - don't worry you're not paddling the whole time. This includes the paperwork and lesson at the start, a mid-tour break and time to enjoy the homemade snacks at the end.
(Allow 3 hours in total with travel to & from Byron Bay)
Age:
Our Byron Stand Up Paddle Nature tour is a great activity for a wide range of ages. We've had 3 year olds sitting on the front of their parent's board and from the age of 8 paddling themselves. If you'd like to have a fun family activity we'll organise a private tour for you. Please include the number and ages of children when calling or texting your booking enquiry.
Abilities:
You don't need to be super fit or have great balance to enjoy our SUP tour, but you do need to know how to swim.
Most of our customers are new to stand up paddling, so there is an introductory lesson at the beginning of the tour, and we are regularly told by our customers, "It's easier than I expected!".
Although it's called stand up paddling, you don't have to stand up the whole time (or even at all if you don't feel like it), you can kneel, sit cross-legged or legs out in front on the board – you can do whatever feels most comfortable for you.
